Check out how Biscayne Boulevard should look. Can you imagine a business and pedestrian-friendly MiMo with on-street parking? Wouldn’t it be nice if cars moved slower through the historic district? This is all possible- a team from the University of Miami developed three alternative streetscape designs for Biscayne Boulevard. Which alternative do you prefer?
Please send an email to the FDOT District 6 Secretary Gus Pego and let him know which alternative you prefer.

I like the no on street parking version number 2.
My husband & I prefer Alternative # 2
Hi Ana,
Why don’t you like the on-street parking? The parking provides a safety buffer between the cars and pedestrians. There is also a big parking issue on Biscayne-we need more parking. Retailers need parking for their customers. People won’t shop on Biscayne if parking is relatively convenient. All three alternatives are good- we just can’t accept how the Boulevard is today.
Biscayne Blvd is and always has been a main thoroughfare and needs to be treated as such. Landscaped center medians can help calm traffic a bit, without impeding traffic flow and on-street parallel parking would help businesses in the area; however, pedestrians beware of decreased driver visibility. All one must do is drive Biscayne during Art Basel or any Miami event and you will realize the folly of any ideas for shutting down lanes or trying to significantly decrease traffic flow until there are viable alternative thoroughfares.
Agreed Ron, but the traffic on Biscayne Blvd during Art Basel has more to do with the lack of transportation options than anything else. For the most part, the only option is to drive.
There are options other than driving. If you live on certain parts of Biscayne Bvld, the bus lines are quite frequent, 3 or more lines passing several times an hour. And there should be more buses at certain hours. Here’s a question: why aren’t there double-load, hybrid buses on these busy routes? How about bringing a trolley from downtown to the neighborhood? What about bike lanes? How about we find a way to ease the stigma of using public transportation and making it a better service for the entire community?
These ideas would ease the parking issue and getting the community to embrace healthier/safer/social modes of transportation.
